JESUS IS THE SOURCE OF TRUE SATISFACTION

As the result of the consequence of sin, we are all broken people living in a fractured world ( (Ps. 51:5; Gen. 8:21; Rom. 1:28-32; Rom. 6:23; Rom. 3:23; Rom. 8:21-22; Gen. 3). Therefore it is irrational to believe that created things (such as money, sex, drugs, entertainment, family, friends, etc) can truly satisfy the deepest longings of our soul. Jesus alone is the source of our lasting satisfaction (John 4:14).

JESUS IS THE SOURCE OF OUR JOY

Jesus, by the effective work the Spirit, makes sinners new (2 Cor. 5:17). This causes great joy in our lives at all times (Phil 1:19-26). When things get rough, our joy is sustained in knowing that our sovereign King is with us and that one day all of our pain will be turned to glory when we meet him face to face (Rom. 5:1-5; Rev. 21:4).

JESUS IS THE SOURCE OF OUR FORGIVENESS

Jesus forgives sinners (Luke 7:48; Eph. 1:7; Luke 23:32-34). When we confess our sins, even the most shameful, Jesus forgives and cleanses us of that sin (1 John 1:9). It is essential to understand that Jesus is willing and able to forgive the seemingly unforgivable in each of us. There isn't a single individual who is too good or too bad to receive Christ's gracious forgiveness. The foot of the cross is level. The Bibles clarity on this issue serves to grant sinners a hope of complete forgiveness.

JESUS IS THE SOURCE OF OUR IDENTITY

Jesus not only forgives sinners, he gives them a new identity (Eph. 1:3-14; Rom. 6:6). If we are in Jesus, then we are no longer seen as filthy sinners who have made terribly sinful mistakes. Rather, we are seen as children of God who are loved, adopted, forgiven, and redeemed (Eph. 1:4; 2:4; 1:5; 1:7; 2:5).

JESUS IS THE SOURCE OF OUR SALVATION

Jesus came to earth to live a sinless life, die the perfect death, and rise again in order to save us (Rom. 6:12-21; 8:1-4; 1 Cor. 15:3-4). We can’t achieve salvation apart from him. It doesn’t matter how good or bad we are, we have all sinned against God and desperately need Jesus for hope of eternal life (Rom. 3:9-18; Rom. 3:9-18; John 3:16; Rom. 10:9; John 10:27-28).
